Hi
Welcome to winter!
Did you know that more than 50% of all working people in the world are employed as knowledge workers? It's no wonder managers are struggling to manage the increasingly intangible nature of what workers produce!
In this month's issue of Fulfilment we explore the role of leadership and communication in our 2 featured articles.
First up, my article takes a jaundiced and, perhaps, provocative look at how leadership gets systematically outsourced and removed from where it should happen in business. Of course, we offer a solution to this pattern - read about this in "Caring for Your People Is Not HR's Job".
Then Rochelle, being our expert associate in branding and communications, offers 8 tools for streamlining communication with your people. Check them out in her article "Effective Internal Communication".
If this topic is important to you and your business, we invite you to scan our Featured Workshop section below about our one-day in-house workshop titled "Communicate Meaningfully". Then call us about how you want your workshop delivered!
We hope you enjoy the read and, if you're going away during the school holidays, please take care.
Until next month, all the best!

FEATURED WORKSHOP:
Communicate Meaningfully
If communicating clearly were the sole responsibility of the sender, what extra care would you take in the messages you send?
What does poor communication cost your business in lost sales, poor service, lousy team morale and bad reputation? Do you struggle to say "No" and end up over-committed? Or do you find your colleagues and clients misunderstanding you?

Build a healthy reputation! Simply by strengthening your ability to communicate clearly and meaningfully, you can do it.
Bridget Benadie, owner of Quantex Recruitment, said this of our workshop:

Caring for Your People Is Not HR's Job
By Brent Combrink 27 June 2008
As important as an HR department's job is in business, it is not HR's job to care about people. HR should care about your business objectives, legal compliance, development and other aspects that relate to one of an organisation's resources known as humans. Who should care about people? Simple: if anyone should care the most, it is management, specifically the line managers. That's why I am delighted to be working with so many inspiring leaders who do not outsource their leadership to remote support functions in their businesses.

Effective Internal Communication
By Rochelle Harwin 27 June 2008
A well designed and integrated corporate identity - for internal and external audiences - will encourage a strong corporate culture and a genuine sense of corporate citizenship. Without communication of the basics, it becomes impossible to belong. Your HR, marketing, PR departments or even a combination of the three, with these 8 techniques, can help you achieve this.
